Sewing Fun

Today we began our second sewing project.

We cut a circle out of fabric and stitched a button to it.

On Friday we are going to stitch our creation onto a big piece of fabric and make it into a garden.

It will be fantastic.

Calendar Art

Today we had a trial run of our Calendar Art.

We drew pictures on the concrete and then we joined the picture and had our photo taken.  Some of us got it right first time, tomorrow we will share and consider how we could improve what we did so our art work looks even better!

Fabric and fibre fun

Today we had our first turn at sewing. We had so much fun and showed our school values as we persevered, we had fun and we were very creative :)

The Enchanted Classroom

Today when the children arrived at school they were excited to discover our Enchanted Forest in the classroom.

I loved watching them read in this special part of our classroom.

The Enchanted Woods

In term three we have a Wearable Arts focus in our classroom. We are also going to be reading The Magic Faraway Tree and exploring the Enchanted Woods .... I CAN'T wait to get started! I am looking for fabric cotton wool felt buttons fabric paints needles anything else you think might come in handy Please collect any little treasures you may have over the holidays!

100 Days of School

Today we finally celebrated our 100th day of school. It was so much fun! We came dressed up in a number related way- we looked amazing. We had a special celebration banner to enter our classroom too. We had our photo taken lots of times! We made 100 day crowns and we had a booklet of 100 day activities. We had to estimate how far 100 steps would take us - and then test it out. We built towers with 100 cups. We played dice games and kept a tally of 100 totals. We did a 100 hunt. We had to guess how many jelly beans and cookies in the jar. Thanks for such a cool day my wee pickles.

100 Days of School

100 Years Old

Today we imagined what we might look like when we are 100 years old! Have a look at us here. Later we wrote stories about what life might be like when we are 100 years old! When I am 100 Years Old ….. My face will be as wrinkly as an elephants bottom. My hair will be as white as the sky. I will be an old inventor. I will have a walking stick. I will have a healthy diet. I might be 900 when I’m a spirit. It will be better if I was 99. At least I’m not dead for now. For now I’m still six. I just want to be how I am. Now I am glad I am six. A Different way to tell a Story

100 Days of School

On Thursday we will have completed 100 Days of School this year. We have counted the days all year and we are very excited that it is nearly day 100. We are having a 100 Days of School Party to celebrate. We are dressing up as if we are 100 years old or as a number in some way. We are also bringing along something yummy (and maybe even mathematical) to share with our friends for lunch. We are very excited. We will also watch this clip.

Clip n Climb

Today was our Big Day Out.

We went on a trip to Clip n Climb to celebrate a great term of hard work.

We had such fun and we were very,  very good at climbing!

Maths Challege

We had a maths challenge today.
We are learning to skip count and to count backwards from bigger numbers.
When we can do this on our own we can write our name on these pieces of paper and we get a sticker too.

Team Work

We continued our Team Work focus today.

I was proud of the children because they were each able to fulfil their own role within their group.

During maths time the children worked in groups to find different ways to make 93 - because today is day 93 of our 100 days of school.

Later, we designed our own book character.  We drew our character and wrote words to describe them.  We joined up with a buddy and had to plan an adventure for our two characters - then we worked together to write a great story.
