Today we started an experiment that will take a whole week to work!
We put one egg in a glass o f water.
We put one egg in a glass of vinegar.
Our Predications
One of the eggs might bounce when you drop it and the other one will only drop and bounce a little bit - Harper
the egg that is in the water will bounce away - Ashley
the vinegar egg will bounce out of the jar - Lily
whne you drop the egg in the vinegar it will bounce but the egg in the water will crash - Tiaan
I think the egg in the vingegar the shell will come off leaving only the inner layer. THen after afew more days the egg will bounce. Riley B

Silly Putty
Our next experiment is to make silly putty.
We started by putting borax which is a chemical into a cup with some boiling wagter then we mixed it.
In another cup we put some glue, food colouring and cornflour and mixed them together.
Next we are going pour the borax mix on top of tjhe PVA mix and leave it for 20 seconds.
After 20 seconds we started to mix it very hard and fast.
We will observe what happens.`
W observed that the mix became very thick and hard to mix.
Then we took it out of the cup and played with it.
It feels a bit like playdough but it is made with glue!
it is fun to play with said Harper
The funny thing about silly putty is it looks wet but it feels dry!
We have blue and red hands from the food colouring though!

Our Big Idea
We are Outstanding Wise Learners and we have GREAT ideas.
Today we have been talking about all the fantastic science learning we have been doing. We have come up with a super plan!
Our BIG IDEA is that at the end of the term when we have done LOTS of science learning and experimenting and predicting and observing and recording we will have our very own SCIENCE FAIR. This means we will each have our very own science information or experiment to share with other people.
We will need to use the hall to set up all our great learning and then we will invite our families and other classes from our school to come and see what we have done....and we will be able to talk about our learning. What a cool celebration!
Great thinking Room 16
We have booked the hall so we know we can use it on the right day.

How we learn
Today we are talking about how we learn.
We discovered a famous man called Howard Gardner did some research into how people learn.
This is how we think we learn
"By doing stuff," said Bryn.
"by asking people questions," said Miles.
"By people telling you things," said Harper.
"By talking to experts," said Harper.
"learning," said Ashley.
"by listening," said Grace.
"by copying people," said Bina.
"by going to school," said Nethasa.
"by listening to the teacher and learning stuff you don't know," said Charlotte.
"by reading books," said Briannah.
"By thinking," said Lily.
"by trying things," said Elenoa.
"by learning the games on my leap pad," said Grace.
