This term we have been focussing on working as part of a team.
Today we were talking about Guy Fawkes Night and the fun we had with fireworks last night.
Lily had a GREAT idea. I was almost as excited as Lily when I heard her explain her great idea!
Lily suggested all of the c hildren work together to make a great art work by splattering paint onto black paper.
First Lily had to go for a run around the school to find some big pieces of black paper - thanks to Room 23 for helping us out with this!
Later in the day Nicky was working in our class. She helped the children to splatter paint on the black paper and sprinkle glitter on it.
The end result is rather impressive - check in out in our classroom soon!
Thanks Lily for sharing your great idea.

Art Fun
We continued with our amazing artwork on Friday.
The children painted their person with black paint during the week.
On friday they all cut lots of circles out of the coloured paper we painted last week.
Next they carefully placed each circle onto their person and then glued them on. Some groups are finished and some groups will finish next week. Now they just need to be cut out!
I was SO proud of the amazing teamwork I observed during this task - it showed me how mature my little pickles have become over the last few months - they were helping each other, taking turns, giving advice in a kind way, making decisions as a team and encouraging each other. I wished I could have recorded the conversations but my phone was too flat to record~

A BIG art project in Room 16
On Friday we began working on a HUGE art project that we will complete in groups.
First we split into groups of three.
Next we decided on a person in our group to be the 'poser' .... we used the sun outside to create a shadow silhouette which Nicky kindly traced around for us.
In the afternoon we painted some pieces of paper different colours.
Over the next few weeks we will cut out some circles from the coloured paper. We will also paint our people black and then stick the coloured pieces onto them.
We think they will look amazing - and it's great to be working as part of a team too.

Team Work
We continued our Team Work focus today.
I was proud of the children because they were each able to fulfil their own role within their group.
During maths time the children worked in groups to find different ways to make 93 - because today is day 93 of our 100 days of school.
Later, we designed our own book character. We drew our character and wrote words to describe them. We joined up with a buddy and had to plan an adventure for our two characters - then we worked together to write a great story.

Maths in the Real World
Today, after we had thought about how we could make teams work cooperatively during our writing time we split into teams and went in search of maths in the real world.
In our team we had a photographer and some spotters. We had to look for maths in the school grounds.
We found numbers, shapes, colours, symmetry and discovered maths really IS everywhere!!

Team Work
We have seven important values in our school.
One of them is Cooperation or Team Work.
Today for writing we worked in teams to make some guidelines for working in teams.
We each had a job - some of us were recorders, some were managers, some were reporters and others were thinkers.
We each had to share our ideas about how we think we can work together to make group work successful in our classroom.
Then we shared our ideas with the class. Our posters are now displayed in our room.
