Fizzy Rocket

Our second experimnet today is called Fizzy Rocket.

To do this experiment we need
water
jars
quickeze

We learned that a control in science means we have one part of the experiment that we make no changes to.

First
we half filled two bottles with water.

Next

we had to crush the quickeze tablet into a powder

We had to drop one whole tablet into one bottle of water and the crushed one into the other bottle.
We need to time to see which one dissolves faster.

Our predicitions

The whole tablet will dissolve faster

The crushed tablet will dissovle faster

What is happening?
We put the whole tablet into the water, it is taking AGES to dissolve!  The water is getting cloudy.  We can see little bubbles forming on the tablet and in the water.

The tablet is getting smaller.

after five minutes we stopped the timer.  The tablet had almost dissovled completely.

Now it is time to put the crushed tablet into the water.

It only took 52 seconds for the crushed tablet to completely dissovle.

We wondered if the temperature of the water would make any difference.....so we tried again with hot water.

These people predict it will make the tablets dissolve faster

Emma

When we put the whole tablet into the hot water we discovered that after three minutes it stopped dissolving even though there was still a big piece left.

After only 19 seconds the crushed tablet dissovled!
