Great Writing

Today we did some fantastic writing.

We started with a shape.  Then we drew more pieces to make the shape into something.

Our stories were formatted along these lines

A .............. is just a .............. until you add .................. then it becomes ....................

Cillian did such a great job he shared his writing with Mrs Warren.  He was amazing.

Tomorrow we will publish our great writing.  We would love you to come and have a look at how we went.

Special Visitors

On the last day of term we were very lucky because Mrs Warren's son, Jackson, visited our classroom.  He even helped us to dye our art work.

Mrs Norton's daughter was sick on the last day of term too so Mrs Pelham worked...Charlotte was excited because she came to school for the day too.  We are so good at taking care of her!

Great work Tiaan and Cooper

Today the children wrote AMAZING reports about an animal of their choice.

I was so impressed with the WOW words they used and the great ideas they shared.  I especially liked the way they could use the report writing format we have been learning about in a very independent way.

After the children wrote their report they drew a diagram and labelled it.  We have been learning about diagrams at reading time.

I was very proud of the end result.  I will publish this writing over the Easter holiday.

Tiaan's report was so fantastic that he took it to Mrs Warren and got a special Principal's award.  It was very exciting for Tiaan.  I will add a photo tomorrow.

Cooper read like a Super Star today.  I was so excited when I was listening to him.  Cooper read like he was talking, it was fantastic!

He took his reading book to Mrs Warren and read it to her too.

What does the Principal do all Day?...the next step

Today was a very exciting day because Mrs Warren came to our class so we could interview her about what she does all day.

We had already prepared our questions.
It was so exciting when Mrs Warren came to our class.

We asked her our questions and listened carefully to her answers.  We discovered just what she does all day!

Have a listen to the interview by clicking on the video below.

Inquiry Learning

This is an update on our inquiry about what the Principal does all day.

We were so excited when we checked our emails today and found a message from Mrs Warren!

I shall come to you :)

Dear Mrs Warren

We hope you have a good day.

Thank you for your message.
We would love to see you on Monday at 9.30am.
Would you like to come to our classroom or shall some of us come to
you?

Love from

Room 16

Inquiry Learning

We asked the big question "What does the Principal do all Day?"

Yesterday we talked about what we thought Mrs Warren does all day and then we wrote some great stories.
We call this the Wonderings part of our Inquiry Journey.

Today we talked about how we could find out what Mrs Warren really does all day.

We came up with some great ideas- have a look at the charts with our ideas on them in our classroom.  We did some very clever and creative thinking. We call this the Discovering part of our inquiry.

We decided the best idea was to ask Mrs Warren some questions about what she does all day.  We came up with some excellent questions.  We have written them all down.
Then we had two ideas about how we thought we could ask Mrs Warren- we could invite her to our class or we could interview her in her office and record the interview on the ipad.

Then we decided to email Mrs Warren to make an appointment with her.

We are very excited about getting a reply.... we checked our email lots of times today but didn't get a reply yet....Mrs Warren is a very busy lady, we wondered what she was doing!

We call this the Let's Do It part of our inquiry.

When we interview Mrs Warren we will compare our ideas about what we thought she does all day with what she really does all day.....do you think we will be accurate?

What does the Principal do all day?

This is what we wrote about today!

The children had some great ideas....I'm not sure Mrs Warren would consider them to be completely accurate though....although I am sure she would love it if she really did spend her day making cups of tea!

Tomorrow we will write an interview to ask Mrs Warren what she REALLY does all day.  Some children will go to her office and interview her....and record their interview on the ipad so the rest of our class can learn what she does too!
